Board Responsibilities
​​Specific Responsibilities of the Director, Community Partnerships
​
The Director, Community Partnerships is a high-visibility board member. As our key community liaison, your biggest ongoing goal will be building relationships in the community on behalf of Let’s Shake the Table, Inc.
​
2025 Goals (Draft to be finalized along with 2025 Board by EOY)
-
Secure food/bev and venue sponsor for Let’s Shake the Table, Inc. events
-
Manage any promised guest posts, promo materials, etc.
-
Ideate, source and manage organic relationships that further organizational goals (in-kind donations, cobranded content, etc.)
-
Keep internal team aware of external partner activities, development opportunities and organic relationship management

General Board Responsibilities
Mission
Empower Black, Charlotte-based women to shake the table in the communication space through perspective, experience and advocacy.
​
As the highest leadership body of the organization and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the board is responsible for:

carrying out the mission and purposes of the organization
-
strategic and organizational planning
-
ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
-
fundraising and resource development
-
approving and monitoring the organization’s programs and services
-
enhancing the organization’s public image
-
assessing its own performance as the governing body of the organization
All board members are expected to contribute 12 hours/month for the duration of their position. Responsibilities have been divided accordingly.

Expectations of all Board Members
Each individual board member is expected to:
-
know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
-
faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements
-
serve as active advocates for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
-
leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve the organization’s mission
-
help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing, and can influence public policy
-
prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings
-
be reachable within 2 business days (unless reasonable, prior notice is given)
-
follow the organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions
-
maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of the organization
-
support social and digital efforts by creating, publishing and engaging with content
